Brassy to Classy: Chandelier Makeover

Okay, now that I've lightened things up by painting the kitchen and dining room a soft Pewter Gray, I'm keeping with the theme and am going to update the lighting in there too.  I did a little hunting on craigslist and found two great deals on old, brass chandeliers.  (With a little negotiating, I was able to get them both for a total of $30! Thank you, Craigslist!)  I was inspired to paint old chandeliers to give them a new look from another blog, "Not Just a Housewife."  Here's what I used for this project:
  • 3 cans of Krylon spray paint ($4.00/can at Walmart)
  • 1 pack of faceted clear beads ($1.95 at Walmart)
  • 1 roll of crochet string ($0.99 at Walmart)
  • 3 packets of crystal prisms ($4.95/packet of 5 at Lowes)
  • 2 packages of hoops to attach jewels ($2.00/package at Walmart)

Here is the first (5 arm) brass chandelier before:

Here is the second, bigger (6 arm)  brass chandelier before:

And here are the materials I used:
So, for a total cost of $63.79 I was able to really brighten up my kitchen and dining room space.  I will have some other pics later of both of them together.  Stay tuned!
